The Harlequin Puppet Theatre - Britain's first permanent puppet theatre. Located in Rhos-on-Sea - opened in 1958. It is the only traditional marionette theatre in Britain and has entertained families for over 50 years, holding daily performances during all main school holidays.

The Harlequin, is a perfect theatre in miniature with a delightful interior and comfortable seating for over a hundred people. It won a Civic Trust Award for its excellence and charm.

The Harlequin is Britain's first permanent puppet theatre, opened 7 July 1958. It was built as headquarters for the Eric Bramall Marionettes who settled here to present a repertoire of opera, plays, musical comedies, fantasies, etc.

This charming theatre seats 120 people.  It is situated in a lovely tree shaded garden just yards from the tea.  An architectural prizewinner made of wood, glass and local stone.

The interior is a mix of gold and red plush, of italianate frescoes and ornate plasterwork.

Approaching from East or West on the A55 Expressway - take the exit marked Rhos-on-Sea and follow the signs to the Promenade.  As you reach the sea front you will see the Harlequin sign.

Performing family shows daily at 3pm throughout many school holidays and weekly at 8pm (check their website for more information) for a show more suitable to adults and older children.

The ticket prices are (note there are reductions for groups of 12 or more):

Adults £5.50              Children & Senior Citizens £4.50

PLANNED SHOWS:

25-31 May (excluding Wednesday 28th) 

The Little Ballet of the Handkerchief Princess, a delightful fantasy, and the amusing puppet play "Two Silly Women and a very Silly King".

The show also includes the Special Magic of Mr Bimbamboozle with the enthusiastic participation of the children, and the performance concludes with the Amazing Marionette Cabaret.
